The bass response is thunderous that you feel in your chest, and the trebles are rich and round, with not even a hint of any strident frequencies. Leo Buendia’s work needs absolutely no introduction. After meeting him at the Chicago fretboard summit and playing his guitars, we are continually excited when one of his masterpieces arrives at the shop. This is the first time we’ve had one of Leo’s 00’s in. It features a phenomenal set of mastergrade African Blackwood with just a touch of sapwood that contrast’s the darkness of the African Blackwood. The top  is tight grained mastergrade Swiss moon spruce. The 13-fret neck to body joint enhances the tone of this 00 taking it to another level. Just in to Cedar Rock is this fabulous Buendia with a stunning set of Wedge back and side wood with a Engelmann Spruce top. Anyone who knows Ervin Somogyi’s work will immediately recognize this Modified Dreadnought (Mod-D) design. The waist is nipped in the manner of a classical and shifted further forward compared to a standard dreadnought. Because the waist is higher up on the instrument, shifting its center of gravity and making it easier to balance and providing the player with a more comfortable playing position. This innovative model remains a mainstay of artists who require acoustic volume without compromising the quality of higher frequencies. We are always blown away by Leo’s attention to detail on his build, and this one just proves that once again. The tone is huge with that Somogyi low end depth and the trebles are silky smooth. This one a lifetime keeper.

Just in to Cedar rock is this amazing Buendia OMc Cocobolo with a Italian alpine spruce top. Following closely to the building style of his mentor, Ervin Somogyi, Leo builds a guitar that feels as though it can handle any dynamic that is thrown at it with grace. A truly responsive guitar, this OM roars in DADGAD but also sings with a light touch. The midrange is beautifully clear and articulate which serves to make chord voicings more pleasurable to listen to in complex fingerstyle arraignments.
